"Salutations to the Dawn"

Look to this day!
For it is life, the very life of life,
In its brief course
Lie all the verities and realities of your existence:

The bliss of growth,
The glory of action,
The splendor of beauty,
For yesterday is but a dream
And tomorrow only a vision,
But today well lived makes every yesterday a dream of happiness
And every tomorrow a vision of hope.
Look well, therefore, to this day! Such is the salutation of the dawn.

  1. This is only loosely related to your post, but I met this girl named Innis from Switzerland in the shuttle from Kendwa to Stone town. She teaches languages (mostly German and … Italian maybe) and met an Indian man in Europe. He turned out to be a world renowned professor of Indian philosophy. So she went to Mumbai and studied the Vedas with him for two years, first in Sanskrit (too hard) and then translations. She reports especially enjoying the informal lessons he would give her on life and philosophy. She was reading a book called “Shantaram” when I met her. Google tells me it’s going to be made into a movie next year. Well anyway, your post made me think of that. Mostly the Indian part. The part where the word “Indian” appears actually. Good blog. Keep it up.
