My neighbourhood corner store

The cold air was biting at my cheeks walking near my house tonight. The streets were completely quiet. I stopped by my neighbourhood corner store to pick up peanut butter, because it’s the only breakfast food that keeps me on my feet all morning. The owner of this store and I have known each other for over two years now. I asked him how business was going. He told me that this week, everyone is staying home. We’re all afraid of the cold, and we need to get used to it again. Once we’re used to it, business will be better, and people will be out again. He smiled and I smiled and we both went about the rest of our evenings.
