A personal tendency to act with integrity, patience and kindness can degrade when surrounded by those who do not regularly practice those qualities, unless a specific effort is made to continue to cultivate them. In some places in medicine, and perhaps now, I see a tendency for people to argue with each other, be short and unkind, and cut corners in caring for the health of others.

May I be fortunate enough to keep encountering the role models that will reinforce my hope to always act with integrity, in the best interest of patients and other health care workers, and in line with my own personal values.
