my walk to work

Every morning I walk through a downtown neighbourhood to get to work. It has old trees and old homes, but the sidewalks are filled with young children and their parents walking them to school. I watch little backpacks bobbing up and down as the kids run in front of their parents. Parents stop and chat with one another with their coffee mugs in hand. Some adults walk a big bunch of kids to school, likely not all their own. This is such an incredible walk to have to work, and it reminds me every day of the power of informal communities.
